Best On-the-Go Snacks
Making a nourishing snack is easy when you have access to fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and any other produce that requires refrigeration. However, these fresh items are not great on-the-go snacks, so I opt for pre-packaged snacks that are not perishable. I look for snacks that satisfy my hunger and are not just loaded with junk ingredients (aka ingredients adding little to no nutritional value). Since avoiding ingredients deemed “unhealthy” is near impossible, I simply look for snacks possessing some nutritional value. I share these snacks in this post about the best on-the-go snacks.
Angie's Boom Chicka Pop Sweet & Salty Kettle Corn
Boom Chicka Pop makes a perfect grab-and-go snack for those with a sweet tooth. This popcorn has a just sweet enough taste and is made with only a few ingredients. Plus, this popcorn comes in snack size bags if you want to make snack preparation even easier.
SkinnyPop Popcorn
While my favorite is stovetop popcorn, pre-popped popcorn is a much better on-the-go option. Made with only corn, sunflower oil, and salt, this popcorn is about as natural as it gets. Even without using the artificial ingredients found in competitors’ popcorns, SkinnyPop has a great taste that rivals other pre-popped popcorn. This fruit bar is the next best thing to a fresh slice of fruit. Without having to consider perishability, you can still get your fruit fix as this bar is made with 100% real fruit.
Wonderful Pistachios No Shell Nuts
As a source of plant-based protein, healthy fats, and fiber to fill you up, pistachios make a great nutrient dense snack. In addition to having a variety of flavor options, you can pick between a snack-size pack of pistachios with shells or without them.
RX Bar
The RX Bar is one of my favorite protein bars out there. Without tasting artificial like other protein bar and shake options, this bar is still packed with protein, containing over 10 grams. In this bar, you’ll also find whole food ingredients and no added sugars. As for a flavor recommendation, my favorite is Chocolate Sea Salt (but they also have plenty of others).
KIND Bar
I love KIND bars because they use whole ingredients like nuts and fruits that are just filling enough. They also taste delicious; in fact, I’ve yet to find a dud flavor. Plus, almost all the bars have chocolate or something similar to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Popchips
From their texture to flavor, Popchips are the closest match I’ve found to traditional chips. While they’re not the most nutrient dense snack, these chips make a great alternative because they’re popped instead of fried and have no trans fats or added preservatives. They also come in traditional chip flavors like sea salt, salt & vinegar, BBQ, sour cream & onion, and more!
Love Corn
The saying that good things come in small packages could not describe Love Corn better. These corn kernels have the perfect amount of crunch and flavor. In addition to the standard size bag, Love Corn has snack size packages making them an even better on-the-go snack.
Quaker Rice Crisps
These light and crunchy rice crisps are another favorite to snack on. They have 11 grams of whole grains per serving which make them a filling snack. Plus, with the caramel or apple cinnamon flavors, you get your sweet fix without the high fructose corn syrup found in many popular snacks.
