Must-Have School Supplies

My favorite part of the back-to-school season is school supplies shopping! As I’ve discovered my tried and trues along the way, my list for re-ups gets smaller and smaller each year. Since I already have cute, functional supplies I love, my back-to-shopping is basically to restock items I’ve used up (ie. notebooks, tape, and pens). Whether you’re looking for a specific pen recommendation or overhauling all your school supplies, here is my list of these school supplies must-haves.

Spiral Bound College Ruled Notebooks

Depending on your preferred style of note-taking, this first recommendation may or may not be necessary. I write my notes on paper because reviewing them is more enjoyable when they are aesthetically pleasing. To keep these hand written notes organized, I devote one spiral notebook for each course, making them an essential on my list.

Mechanical Pencils

I love writing in pen, but I make too many mistakes to take class notes in anything other than pencil. As a result, I always carry both pens and pencils in my backpack.

Highlighters

Highlighters

Everything, including class notes, is way more fun with color. Plus, incorporating color throughout your notes can help visual learners, like myself, remember the content better. I add color to my otherwise boring notes consisting of pencil alone, I use colored highlighters, specifically these Sharpie ones.

Bic Ball Point Pens

Ball Point Pens

Like I said, I love to write in pen. So for jotting down notes outside of class, a ball point pen, specifically from Bic is my go-to. I just feel this pen style is the easiest to get my handwriting the way I like it.

Felt Tip Pens

Call me extra, but I also like to have these colored felt tip flair pens from Paper Mate. They’re slightly thicker and have all the colors to really make what I write standout. Besides, it’s good to have options- right?

Pencil Pouch

I’ve used this pencil pouch since I was a senior in high school (and I’m going into my senior year of college)- needless to say, it has help up great! It’s big enough to hold all the pens, pencils, highlighters, calculators, scissors, etc. I could possibly need, but it isn’t obnoxiously big either. Plus, it has the cutest pattern!

Mini Notebooks

I am a big notetaker, so it’s only fitting that I use more than one type of notebook. I typically have 3 of these smaller notebooks from Red Bubble on hand, with each having a distinct purpose. The first holds notes related to work, the second functions as my gratitude journal, and the third is a catch all (aka the equivalent of a junk drawer for my thoughts).

North Face Backpack

Backpack

Having something to hold all this supplies is a must. My choice is very basic as I use a black backpack. It fits everything I need and has also lasted since I was in my senior year of high school.
