Everyday Lip Products

An everyday lip product is one you can wear in any situation, regardless of your location, outfit, mood, etc. Due to different complexions, preferences, and lifestyles, not everyone will have the same everyday lip product. With this in mind, my list of favorites includes lip products with varying formulas, colors, and prices, so you can find the best everyday lip product for you.

Maybelline Lifter Gloss

Normally, lip products with glossy finishes are accompanied by uncomfortable, sticky sensations. However, this is not the case for Maybelline’s Lifter Gloss which has a glossy sheen AND comfortable formula. As if you needed more reasons to try, the gloss gives a naturally-pretty wash of color and subtle cake scent that smells amazing (without being overpowering).

  • Pros: Comfortable cushion-like feel, non-sticky

  • Con: Residual product stays on outer-packaging which can be messy

  • Shade: Moon (shimmery nude pink)

  • Scent: Vanilla cake

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump

Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump

Since I love lip oils, glosses, and balms, products, like the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump, that combine the three are top tier for me. Using an easy to apply and travel-friendly stick applicator, I instantly achieve the subtle tint, shine, and comfortable feel I look for in lip products. This version has a slight minty tingle that minimally plumps the lips’ appearance; but, if plumping isn’t your speed, the original one may be better for you because it does not have this effect.

  • Pros: Lightweight/comfortable feel, combines results of lipstick, oil, and gloss in single product

  • (Potential) Con: Minty tingle

  • Shade: Mixed Berries (Mauve)

  • Scent: Light mint

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm

If nourishing your lips is a priority, the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm is the perfect everyday lip product for you. In addition to it’s moisturizing ingredients, this balm adds a natural-looking glow and tint to the lips that feels like a dream. Since it has a slanted tip applicator that allows you to apply the balm without using your fingers, this product lends itself perfectly for on-the-go, daily usage. With all of these features, I cannot think of a better everyday lip balm.

  • Pros: Comfortable feel, nourishing ingredients, revives look with a little sheen and color

  • (Potential) Con: Thicker consistency

  • Shades: Grapefruit, Gummy Bear, and Berry

  • Scent: ^^

Glossier Balm Dot Com

If shimmer isn’t important to you, then I believe the Laneige balm is the best out there. However, the Glossier Birthday Balm Dot Com is my balm recommendation for shimmer lovers. Like the Laneige balm, the Glossier balm is nourishing, comfortable, and high-shine. Aside from the shimmery finish, Glossier’s balm is different than Laneige’s because it has a thicker consistency. Nonetheless, Glossier still carries a great lip balm option.

  • Pros: Comfortable, non-gritty shimmer, nourishing ingredients

  • Con: Thicker consistency (even more so than Laneige’s)

  • Shade: Birthday (shimmery translucent)

  • Scent: Sweet Cake

Buxom Full On Plumping Lip Cream Gloss

Adding color, shine, and fullness to your lips without any shimmer, this gloss subtly elevates your look. This gloss brings volume and a smooth look to the lips through a minty, plumping tingle. Of the many lip plumpers I’ve tried, they normally have no effect or feel way too intense. While lip plumpers may not be for everyone, this one is my favorite because it makes a difference without being too dramatic or painful. An additional reason I love this gloss is the shades carried in the line. Dolly is the perfect “my lips but better” shade, and White Russian is my go-to for topping nude lipsticks.

  • Pros: Smooths lips’ appearance, adds shine without shimmer/glitter

  • (Potential) Cons: Plumping tingle, can feel sticky

  • Shades: Dolly (Mauve) and White Russian (nude pink)

  • Scent: Mix between mint and cake

NYX Butter Gloss

NYX Butter Gloss

Dare I say, this gloss is the least sticky one I’ve ever tried. In addition to it’s comfortable formula, the selling point of this gloss is the color it imparts on the lips which is apparent yet natural-looking. The small container and doe-foot applicator make it perfect for carrying in your bag… which is good because the one drawback of this gloss is the need to reapply frequently. The need for touch-ups often comes with the territory of comfortable gloss formulas, so I do not mind reapplying, especially considering the gloss’s low price.

  • Pros: More affordable, pigmented color, shiny finish, lightweight feel

  • Con: Needs reapplication

  • Shades: Tiramisu (rosy mauve) and Creme Brulee (pink)

  • Scent: Cake

Nars Afterglow Lip Balm

Adding the most subtle shimmer and hint of color to the lips, this balm elevates your look in the most natural way. The feeling of the product on the lips is even more subtle- in fact, it’s thin formula is almost undetectable. The only downside to this thin consistency is the product lacks in wear-time. Luckily, the traditional bullet lipstick packaging makes this balm perfect for bringing and reapplying on-the-go. On top of all this, this balm is packed with hydrating ingredients and antioxidants that lips love.

  • Pros: Subtle radiance, wash of color, thin/lightweight feel, easy on-the-go application

  • Con: Not very long-lasting

  • Scent: Undetectable

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss

This Revlon gloss is perfect for those wanting pigment at a decent price point. The highlight of this gloss is the long-lasting color it gives the lips. The gloss’s thinner formula offers a unique type of comfort, different from most today’s thicker, more emollient glosses. On the plus side, the thin formula makes the product feel lighter and color wear longer on the lips. However, the gloss’s thin formula means the shiny effect doesn’t last long after initial application. As a result, deciding whether to buy this gloss truly comes down to personal preference.

  • Pros: Thin/lightweight feel, long-lasting color

  • Con: Shiny finish doesn’t last long

  • Shades: Super Natural

  • Scent: Fruity (not too strong)
